Memorial Day...
Time to Remember and Honor
~~~1Peter 1:3-9 ~~~ Psalm 111 ~~~Mark 10:17-27 ~~~
"...an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you who by the power of god are safeguarded through faith, to a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the final time."
Those who have lost loved ones protecting their country 'suffer through various trials'
too many trials for most of us to appreciate. The trials they have endured testify to their 'genuineness of faith' for they believed in the freedoms held dear by their fellow countrymen. They have been tested by fire, enemy fire, and have proved themselves worthy of praise, honor, and glory. They fought for this county because they believed in our freedoms.
Although they did not see God he was by their side. Although we no longer see our fallen heroes we continue to love them.
"...even though you do not see him now...you believe in him,
you rejoice with an indescribable and glorious joy,
as you attain the goal of faith,
the salvation of your souls."
Today we remember those fallen in battle who have long been forgotten.
We remember those fallen who left behind their spouse and their children.
We remember today the mothers and fathers who have lost a child in combat.
We join with them in praying psalm 130:1
'Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!'
It is only through strong faith that a human can endure such painful trials.
We are steadfast in believing, 'If, then, we have died with Christ,
we believe that we shall also live with him.' Rom. 6:8
Let the Spirit of peace brought down to us by the very breath of Jesus
after his being raised from the dead fill our hearts.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God"
Mathew 5: 9
May all nations know peace; a peace that can only come from God.
"For men it is impossible, but not for God.
All things are possible for God."
Mark 10:27
May the souls of all our fallen men and women rest in peace and the love of God.
May their loved ones have faith that their death was not in vain.
Today let us remember the brave men and women
who paid the price for the rest of us.
