We Remember...

~~~~ All Souls Day ~~~
~~~ Wisdom 3:1-9 ~~~ Psalm 23 ~~~ Romans 5:5-11 ~~~
or ~~~ Romans 6:3-9 ~~~~ John 6:37-40 ~~~

The souls of the just are in the hand of God,
and no torment shall touch them.

There is no such thing as failure for God.
God never gives up on one of his own souls.
God created us to know him, to love him, to serve him.
What happens when some seem to reject all that God is?
What happens when we try to live a good life and come up short?

Hope does not disappoint...
We remember those who believed they were doing the will of God
only to find out that they have come up short.
When our final day comes, when we take
our last breath hope will carry us over into eternity.
The amount of hope we have today does not suddenly change or cease
because we leave this existence.
Hope is what causes us to remember those who have died.

Hope does not disappear because Jesus
dies on the cross for the sins we would commit.
Hope does not disappear because we remember how Jesus loves us.

We remember the love of God
 is wild and crazy, beyond comprehension...timeless.
Timeless yet he promises to be with until the end of the ages.

We remember those who have died
for they, having been given a glimpse of God,
find themselves
 in need of further purifying.
The dead choose to delay coming before the full glory
 of God because their souls are not ready.

We remember to pray for their souls
 to be made ready for full communion with the Lord.
God cannot fail he promises to call all back into his presence.

...this is the will of the one who sent me,
that I should not lose anything of what he gave me...

Jesus does not lose anything.
God created each of us for himself;
we are part of what God gave to Jesus.

Some may take longer than others
 to be returned to their place with God.
God has the power and the mercy to make whole again
 every soul he has ever created.

What if even those who reject God
 in the end are made to see just how much love
was included in their rejection?
What if with this pure knowledge there is a chance for salvation?

This is of course not a free pass to live
 a reckless life of sin rejecting God's pure love.

We remember those whom we do not know;
 that they will see the face of God.

...everyone who sees the Son and believes in him
may have eternal life,
and I shall raise him on the last day.

I cannot believe that if one sees the face of God
 it would be possible to not believe.
May we be blessed on our last day to see the face of God.
May we have the hope that on that last day we will choose love.
May our loved ones be purified and brought
 into the presence of God's eternal glory.

We Remember...
~~~Peace~~~
