Sightings of Awe

~~~ Philippians 2:5-11 ~~~ Psalm 22 ~~~ Luke 14:15-24 ~~~
The unexpected dinner party conversation spoken by Jesus.
A great meal was prepared, the guests all found excuses
for not attending, the master is understandably frustrated....
Then the master of the house in a rage commanded...
Rage can give birth to destructive behavior
leading to violent decision making.
Most would agree it is best not to act when the
emotion of rage is consuming you.
The master of this house allowed his anger to escalate
 from frustration to full blown rage.
In April of 2014 the Smithsonian magazine
published an article on rage.
They posed the question which emotion spreads
more quickly on social media.
The researchers found that joy moves faster than sadness or disgust,
but nothing spread more rapidly than rage.
The emotion of rage spreads out as quickly as ripples
 flow from a single dropped stone.
Rage is like a wild fire set to destroy everything in its path.
Rage consumes all prospects for peace.
Rage negatively motivates us to take action.
The study went on to discover the one emotion
that can compromise rage is awe.
The emotions that come from wonder and excitement accompany
 our experience of great beauty or new discovery.
“Awe gets our hearts racing and our blood pumping,”
Berger, the researcher, says.
“This increases our desire for
emotional connection and drives us to share.”
...God greatly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name
that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus
every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Wonder...Awe...Beauty....Knowledge.
This is what we should be supporting
 online in our emails and our social media postings.
Search the internet for examples of wonder, awe,
 beauty, and knowledge.
Strive to spread content which over powers the climate of rage.
Anger may serve a limited purpose, rage not so much.
Rage is not good for our overall health.
Rage may put you at greater risk for heart disease.
Change the face of rage into the face of wonder and awe.
Stop the proliferation of rage by focusing on wonder and awe...
the beauty that surrounds us every day.
Let a rainbow painted across the sky,
a rabbit scampering across the lawn,
a tiny sparrow flitting by the window spark the sense
 of awe within your heart.
If we can concentrate more on awe
we just might not have time for rage.
If you spend your time today in rage just think
about the awe you will miss.
Blessed with so many sightings of awe.
~~~Peace~~~
