Jesus 'Got It'

~~~ 1 John 4:19–5:4 ~~~ Psalm 72 ~~~ Luke 4:14-22 ~~~
...whoever is begotten by God
conquers the world.
And the victory
 that conquers the world
 is our faith.
Love is what conquers the world
 because God first loved us.
Love of God is super of course,
 but the real victory comes in loving
our brothers and sisters.
Scripture tells us that Jesus became one of us...fully human...
always carrying within his divine identity as well.
We see the birth of Jesus his beginning was as any human,
keeping that in mind he grew in age and wisdom.
The wisdom might have included his realizing his divine identity.
Maybe it took some time for him to mature enough for God
to allow him access to his divine personage.
It was always there just not fully realized.
Luke tells us today that Jesus returned to Galilee
in the power of the Spirit
He was now in touch with his divinity
preserved and nurtured by the Spirit of God.
The moment he was handed the scroll
and stood to proclaim in the temple
he fully embraced and understood within his physical being
 that he was one with the Father...
Jesus is God.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
God had anointed him to save us.
God loved us first and Jesus is the proof.
“Today this Scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Jesus 'got it'...he read the words of the prophet Isaiah
and had a huge 'aha' moment.
These ideas are not grounded in theology of course,
but I think it gives us a fresh perspective.
How does this awakening in Jesus apply to us?
We are not divine, but the Lord does reside within our souls.
For some of us it takes a lifetime to accept that God loves us
and resides within our being.
Thomas Keating says...
The reception of the Eucharist is not a passing visit from Christ,
but an awakening to his abiding presence within us,
leading us into the further experience of the Father.
(Spirituality, Contemplation, and Transformation)
May Our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and keep you
all the days of your life.
~~~In his Peace~~~
