Joy in the Desert

~~~ Isaiah 35:1-10 ~~~ Psalm 85 ~~~ Luke 5:17-26 ~~~
When God comes all will bloom and his fragrance will fill the air.
The long awaited hope will come to fruition.
All that is good will burst forth from above and below...
from within and without.
The joy of this new birth will be jubilant.
All that humankind has hoped for will be made known...
the lame will walk, the blind will see, the deaf will hear,
the mute will sing, streams will burst forth from the desert,
pools of fresh cool water will appear in the desolate wasteland.
One act of God will cause all of these things to take place.
In the midst of all this energy and excitement
"...A highway will be there,
called the holy way...
It is for those with a journey to make,
and on it the redeemed will walk."
The 'yellow brick' road of sorts where God will lead the way.
The road where justice and peace come together.
The road where joy and gladness prevail.
The road where sorrow and mourning are transformed.
The road where the travelers will forever be changed.
"What are you thinking in your hearts?"
This is the question Jesus asked those who questioned
his authority to forgive sins.
The one who comes is hope for all who come to him.
Even if your friends carry you to him he can see what is in your heart.
If faith had a color what do you think it would be?
To me the color of faith is blue because it is the color of water.
Without water we have no life.
Jesus is the living water from which springs forth abundant blossoms
of faith, hope, mercy, and love.
