Good Shepherd Sunday
~~Acts of the Apostles 13:14, 43-52~~Psalm 100~~
~~Revelation 7:9, 14b-17~~John 10:27-30~~
"My sheep hear my voice;
I know them, and they follow me..."
I know them, and they follow me..."
This short Gospel is packed with a beautiful message for us today.
Jesus portrays himself as the good shepherd.
The shepherd is very important to the sheep.
The sheep quickly learn the voice of their shepherd.
The have come to trust him.
He is the one that protects them.
He is the one who leads them to food and water.
He is the one keeps them out of harms way.
When he calls them and they hear his voice
they come to him without hesitation.
As best as they can they love their shepherd.
His presence brings them peace.
They follow the shepherd because he gives them something.
He gives them himself.
He gives them his undivided attention.
Today we can chose to follow this same shepherd.
Today we can chose to hear his voice.
Today the message is the same...
Jesus will care for us as a shepherd cares for his sheep.
Jesus cares for us because he knows us
we are his...
we are in the palm of his hand.
Elsewhere on this blog I have written about
shaking the dust from your feet.
Listen for the voice of the Good Shepherd
for he calls out to you to come follow him;
we are his.
The Blessings of Easter are many.
