The Holy One Speaks

~~~ Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time ~~~
~~~ Deuteronomy 18:15-20 ~~~ Psalm 95 ~~~
~~~1 Corinthians 7:32-35 ~~~
~~~ Mark 1:21-28 ~~~

The people made the request for something more
 than an ordinary prophet was capable of delivering.
They wanted the real thing.
God tells Moses he is pleased with their request.

I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kin,
and will put my words into his mouth;
he shall tell them all that I command him.

Jesus stands in the synagogue and who recognizes who he is first?
The unclean spirit hidden within one in the assembly.
The unclean spirit acknowledges the pure
presence of the spirit within Jesus.

“What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”

We have seen Jesus quiet the stormy waters,
 environmental elements,
with his voice and words...
Today we see him exercising
his powerful words over the unseen spirit.

Which do you feel is more significant?
Calming the forces of nature or commanding a spirit to leave?

Blessings in knowing he is with you.
~~~Peace~~~
