~~~ Acts of the Apostles 6:1-7 ~~~ Psalm 33 ~~~
~~~ John 6:16-21 ~~~
Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we
place our trust in you.
The early church grew in numbers
because the disciples placed their trust in God.
Without trusting in God you can not
be sure if you are doing his will.
If you are doing his will
then trusting in him will surely follow.
So which comes first, following Jesus or trusting in God?
If you are a follower of Jesus you will learn to trust.
His care for you will validate your desire to trust him.
The apostles learned to trust in Jesus
every time he quelled their fears.
But he said to them, “It is I. Do not be afraid.”
They wanted to take him into the boat,
but the boat immediately arrived at the shore
to which they were heading.
The sea was rough, it was dark and they were fearful.
Note here that Jesus does not come out to the boat.
Jesus does calm their fears.
Notice what happens next...
the boat immediately arrives
at the shore where they were headed.
Jesus teaches them through this
experience to trust him more.
His words began to calm them,
but they wanted Jesus to get in the boat with them.
Were they co dependent on Jesus?
Jesus proves to them that he was there for them
whether or not he was present in the boat.
The same is true for us too.
Especially if we doubt God's presence during a time of fear.
We must remember to look further...
to the final outcome.
Do we arrive safely to the
'shore to which we were headed'?
Trusting in God helps us to be patient.
God does not always act on our initial pleas.
Sometimes it is difficult to wait, this is
when we learn to trust.
Trust in the Lord
he will bless you and get you to
where you were headed.
~~~Peace~~~
